Under da “Missal” toe

December 3, 2011

So, I’ve been listening to my Catholic brethren and sisteren go round, about the changes to the Roman Missal.

When I heard some of the changes, (especially the part that changed the wording of “…and in what I have failed to do, I ask blessed Mary ever- Virgin…” to this more to the point phrasing, of, ” …and in what I failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever – Virgin” – no, really it says that now!) the only thing I could hear playing in my mind was the lyrics to the 1980’s George Michael song “Careless Whisper’. Although, unlike the missal I’d only make one (1) change to the lyric…

I’d change the word “feet” to the word “priests”! Try it. You remember the melody. Go ahead, sing the entire song (just like you did in the clubs back in the day) only this time, every time you come to the word “feet”, change it to the word “priests” and you’ll be amazed at how this song sums up the ‘changes” to the Roman Catholic Missal. But just like the missal, it only works if you sing the song in its entirety. …(Smirk)

CARELESS WHISPER

Written by: GEORGE MICHAEL / ANDREW RIDGELEY

Time can never mend the careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find

Should’ve known better

I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen

And all its sad good-byes

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Never without your love

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it’s better this way
We’d hurt each other with the things we’d want to say

We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But no one’s gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

(Now that you’re gone) Now that you’re gone
(Now that you’re gone) What I did’s so wrong
That you had to leave me alone
